Education in Fiji is a major priority, it is not only about getting a degree with a good job in a good environment but it is also about making your parents proud. Why is it that most children these days do not take their studies seriously? Most students just go to school for the sake of going, ignoring household chores or just to go and have fun with their friends. While other children out there do not have the luxury to study. Should parents be bothered about these type of children? should they keeping waiting for the day for their children to actually come to their senses? Despite the amount of reminders or request by the Ministry of Education that studies should remain a priority, still the message doesn't seem to get through. On April 20, 2009 during a press release on the Fiji government online portal, the Ministry of Education reminded students, parents and teachers that classroom work must remain an important aspect despite the end of the school term or the Coke Lite games. Well it is the last week of school and students are not even bothered but are more excited about the holidays and coming events..where are their books at this moment? The Education Ministry has called on the support of all parents and local authorities to assist and guide students in the right direction. You were a student once what would you be doing right now?
